The Lindt & Sprungli is a best Swiss chocolate manufacturer and more commonly it is known as Lindt. It is a Swiss chocolate and a confectionery company and was founded in 1845. The David Sprungli-Schwarz was the founder and his son, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann now owned a small confectionery shop in the old town of Zurich at that time and later they started a small factory and produce the chocolate in the solid form. The business was divided between his two sons 11892. The younger son David Robert have received two confectionery stores which are known as the Confiserie Sprungli and The other son Johann Rudolf have received the entire chocolate factory.

In order to raise the necessary finance Johann Rudolf later converted his private company into the "Chocolate Sprungli AG" and then In that same year, he also acquired the chocolate factory in Bern and changed its name to Aktiengesellschaft Vereinigte Berner und Züricher Chocoladefabriken Lindt & Sprungli which means the United Bern and the Zurich Lindt & Sprungli Chocolate Factory Ltd. then In 1994, Lindt & Sprungli have also acquired the Austrian Chocolatier, Hofbauer. After that he acquired the Italian Chocolatier, Caffarel and the American Chocolatier, Ghirardelli, and made them as their own subsidiaries. Since then the Lindt & Sprungli has expanded a lot. Lindt later announced the closure of its 50 to 80 retail boutiques in the United States because of the weaker demand. The Lindt & Sprungli now has the six factories which are located in Kilchberg, Switzerland, Aachen, Induno Olona, Italy; Gloggnitz, Austria; and Stratham, New Hampshire, Germany; Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France; and United States. The factory of Austria manufactures the products under the care of Hofbauer and Küfferle brand associated with the Lindt brand.

The Caffarel's factory is then located in the Luserna San Giovanni, Italy and the Ghirardelli's factory is in San Leandro, California. Lindt salso sells a variety of chocolate block.
