Ghirardelli- The famous chocolate company producing lip smacking chocolates

The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company which is indeed very famous is actually the United States division of the Swiss confectionery manufacturer the Lindt & Sprngli. Created by and named after the highly skilled Italian Chocolatier Domingo Ghirardelli, the company, which is considered the America’s Premium Chocolate Company was actually built on the back of a number of setbacks. Originally trying to make it rich as a miner in the California Gold Rush, he decided to hang up his pan when that proved unsuccessful and open a small tent store in the city of Stockton, California instead, selling goods including supplies and confectionery to miners. As this grew successful, he decided to open a store and hotel in San Francisco which continued to prosper until one day disaster struck as a massive fire destroyed the entire premises. Undeterred he set about the rebuilding his livelihood by opening the Cairo Coffee House on San Francisco's Commercial Street in the month of September in 1851. After that venture failed, he set about launching a new confectionery business a year later which he called Ghirardely & Girard. Today this company, which has since changed its name to The Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, is America’s longest continuously operating chocolate manufacturer.
As well as producing the several flavours of chocolate, the Ghirardelli portfolio of products also includes the food service items, like chocolate drinks and flavoured sauces which they predominantly sell to other retailers as well. What makes their product unique is what the company proclaim as The Ghirardelli Difference. As one of the few chocolate companies in the entire world who oversee and control every single aspect of its chocolate manufacturing process, from the cocoa bean to the finished bar, the company operate a meticulous four step process that includes the bean selection, roasting, refining and everything else.
